More Than Half of Truckloads Ran Partially Empty Last Year

A new study from Flock Freight and Drive Research found that 58% of truckloads moved with empty trailer space in 2024, up from 43% the year before. The average underloaded truck left about 34 linear feet of space unused, meaning every third truck on the road was essentially running empty. On-time delivery ranked as the top priority for shippers. Rivr Partners With Veho for Robot Parcel Delivery

Rivr has partnered with Veho for a new pilot program in Austin, Texas in which Rivr’s four-wheeled, stair-climbing delivery robots will ferry packages from Veho’s vans directly to customers’ front doors. The partnership could eventually allow for more deliveries to take place at once, particularly in dense urban areas where both the driver and the robot can tag-team a particular street simultaneously. FreshDirect Ventures into Physical Retail

FreshDirect has opened a brick-and-mortar store in Southampton, New York, marking the e-grocer’s first venture into the world of physical retail.
