Global Online Holiday Sales to Hit Record $1.25T

New data from Salesforce indicates November and December digital sales are expected to reach an unprecedented $1.25 trillion around the globe in 2025. In the U.S., digital sales are forecasted to grow 2% for a total of $288 billion. Salesforce estimates that a significant portion of the growth this upcoming holiday season will be attributed to the rise in AI and agent-referred traffic, which is projected to drive 21% of all holiday orders globally, accounting for $263 billion in sales. Target is rolling out next-day delivery to 35 major U.S. metro areas by the end of October, giving customers faster options just in time for holiday shopping. The expansion will reach cities including Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Washington, D.C.,  with more regions scheduled to launch by October. USPS Installs Speedy, Next-Gen Package Sorting Machines

The U.S. Postal Service is investing in next-generation package sorting machines to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. The parallel induction linear sorter has processed 12 million packages during the first 10 months of use at the Dulles, Virginia, processing and distribution center. The Postal Service unveiled a high-tech Matrix East/West Sorter at a regional center in Avondale, Arizona. The new machine can process up to 50,000 packages per hour, doubling the facility’s capacity and increasing efficiency by 75%. Read more.
